Description
Pierosara, once Castel Petroso, was the seat of Lombard Gastald which administered this land in the first Middle-age.
It changed its name due to the story of Piero and Sara, which is very similar to the Romeo and Giulietta' one.
They came from two important families of this village which hated each other. But the two youngs, instead to feel hate, fell in love. Seeing that to live this love was impossible, they decided to kill themselves letting fall down from the tall tower of the village.
Pierosara rises on the top of a hill very close to the Frasassi gorge, in the Regional Park of the Frasassi and DellaRossa gorges.
